A case in point


Let's assume that you're in need of a particular service and obtain the addresses of two firms that offer solutions. You visit the office of the first firm - in a shady part of town (and checking your pockets every 10 seconds). The sign above the building is broken and the door creaks as you struggle to get it open. As your eyes adjust to the gloomy interior (courtesy of dirt-caked windows) you notice the peeling paint, carpet stains and rickety chairs. You've already contemplated a swift exit before the receptionist tears her eyes away from the magazine she's reading long enough to acknowledge your arrival.

Now let's take a look at firm number two. Located in an up-and-coming part of town, with glass-frosted doors and a well-kept exterior. Imagine ambient lighting, soft cream carpeting, Modern Office designer chairs and maybe some classical music playing softly in the background.

Which of these firms would you be more willing to employ?

Now let's say that firm number one actually provides a better solution. Which firm would you try then?

If you're a discerning customer, I'd say your answers to both questions would be firm number two.
